• Perfect Painting Tips from HGTV Magazine

Since we featured our painting posts last week, I found a few great painting tips in HGTV Magazine. Have I mentioned lately how much I love that magazine? Because I do. A lot. If you’re into home design/decor and haven’t gotten yourself a subscription yet, you’re just plain silly. Seriously. But… I digress. Today’s post is a peek into a piece of the brilliance they shared with us in this month’s issue: perfect painting tips. Sure, everyone thinks they’re a pro, and there’s nothing to it and blah, blah, blah… But really, everyone could always stand to learn something new. So here are a few of the “nuggets” I found in the article. (By the way, you’re welcome for sharing them with you!)

    • Kimberly Lacy from Curb Appeal suggests that wearing latex gloves when you paint, so that if you want to take a break, you can peel the glove off over the brush and it won’t dry out or get crusty during the time you’re away!
    • Painting a higher area? Courtney Novogratz suggests using a plastic drinking cup to hold the paint. Not only is it easier to carry while you’re using the ladder, but you won’t have to go up and down so many times when working on trim!
    • Use large swatches on walls when deciding on a paint color (Sabrina Soto recommends at least 9″ x 11″ ) and check them out during different times of day before you make a final decision.
Want the rest from HGTV? You’ll have to buy the magazine! We don’t have enough time or space to share all the goodies here!
But, just to add to the value for you–check out the image below found on our Pinterest page. Yup, talk about another brilliant idea!!

    Less mess!
